Dia Mirza demands apology for Rhea Chakraborty after Sushant case clearance
- She criticized the media for causing deep anguish and harassment for TRPs.
- The CBI took over the probe from the Bihar Police in August 2020.
- Rhea Chakraborty was arrested in September 2020 and remained in custody for 28 days before securing bail.
Dia Mirza recently urged the public on social media to apologize to Rhea Chakraborty after authorities officially cleared her of all allegations in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
Posting on her Instagram Stories, Dia Mirza wrote, “Who in the media will have the grace to put out a written apology to Rhea Chakraborthy and her family? You went on a witch hunt.”
She added, “You caused deep anguish and harassment just for TRPs. Apologize. That’s the very least you can do.”
Dia Mirza reacted after the CBI submitted two closure reports on March 22. One report dismissed allegations Sushant Singh Rajput’s father made against Rhea Chakraborty, while the other addressed accusations Rhea had filed against Sushant’s family.
In August 2020, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the probe from the Bihar Police. After conducting a detailed investigation, the CBI cleared Rhea Chakraborty of all accusations. Reports also confirm that her parents, brother, and everyone else accused in the case have received a clean chit.
For those unfamiliar, the SSR death case placed Rhea Chakraborty under relentless media scrutiny. Intense coverage and speculation led authorities to arrest her in September 2020, after which they sent her to Mumbai’s Byculla Jail. She remained in custody for 28 days before finally securing bail.
Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, welcomed the CBI’s closure report and expressed gratitude for the agency’s thorough investigation over the past four and a half years. He felt relieved that officials had carefully examined the case from all possible angles before closing it.
Reflecting on the events surrounding the case, he strongly condemned the widespread misinformation and said, “The amount of false narrative in social media and electronic media was uncalled for. Innocent people were hounded and paraded before the media and investigative authorities. I hope this does not repeat in any case.”
