FBR revenue collection surges by 26%, NA informed
Minister of State for Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani informed the National Assembly (NA) on Friday that the FBR’s revenue collection had increased by 26% by February in the current fiscal year.
Minister of State for Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani responded to a Calling Attention Notice in the NA, stating that the number of tax filers has increased and economic indicators have improved over the past year.
During question hour, Kayani informed the House that a Chinese technical team would soon visit Pakistan to advance the ML-1 project. He also stated that Package One of the ML-1 upgrade includes improvements to the rail infrastructure from Karachi to Hyderabad.
Bilal Azhar Kayani stated that Pakistan Railways has successfully outsourced the commercial management of multiple trains to private contractors, which has significantly increased revenue.
The state minister added that authorities have enhanced train security in Balochistan following the Jaffar Express incident. He also confirmed plans to fence the Quetta railway station.
Minister of State for National Health Services Mukhtar Ahmad Malik stated that the government is considering a proposal to introduce a healthcare insurance scheme for federal employees. He added that authorities are currently conducting studies to determine the treatment facilities included in the scheme.

He stated that the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Center will be completed by June this year, while the cancer hospital at PIMS will be finished by next year.
The Minister of State stated that authorities will construct the Jinnah Medical Complex to reduce the burden on PIMS. He added that the project’s groundbreaking is expected to take place in April this year. The Speaker has now adjourned the National Assembly session.
