Governor Sindh appeals CJP to take notice of rise in traffic fatalities

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of rise traffic fatalities occurring due to the heavy traffic in Karachi city.

Governor Sindh appealed to the Chief Justice Supreme Court to take notice of rising incident of traffic related accident due to the heavy traffic.

Governor Sindh said that after Eid ul Fitr, he would plot the relatives of those who lost their lives in heavy traffic accidents and would give money to those who cannot build a house on the plot.

The death toll in traffic accidents has increased to 215, while since January 1, the death toll from heavy traffic has increased to more than 65.

Earlier, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader and Deputy Parliamentary Leader in the Sindh Assembly, Taha Ahmed Khan, has written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, urging him to take suo motu notice of the rising number of deadly traffic accidents in Karachi.

In his letter, Taha expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of a pregnant woman, her husband, and their child, who was forced to be born prematurely due to the accident, in the recent Malir Halt incident.

He stated that since the beginning of 2025, 207 people have died and 2,623 have been injured in traffic accidents across Karachi.

The demanded strict measures against those responsible for the Malir Halt tragedy.
