LHC’s Justice Ali Baqir Najafi appointed SC judge
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Law has issued a notification for the appointment of Justice Ali Baqir Najafi to the Supreme Court.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law, Justice Ali Baqir Najafi was posted as a Supreme Court from the Lahore High Court.
After the approval of the President Asif Ali Zardari, a notification was issued by the Ministry of Law.
It is to be remembered that the Judicial Commission of Pakistan had approved the elevation of Justice Ali Baqir Najafi on April 11.
Earlier, Justice Ali Baqir Najafi was approved for appointment as Supreme Court Judge during a Judicial Commission Meeting.
It was chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, the appointment of two Supreme Court justices was debated.
Also under consideration were the names of five senior Lahore High Court judges.
These were Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Aalia Neelum, Justice Sadaqat Hussain, Justice Ali Baqir Najafi, Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh and Justice Shujaat Ali Khan.
