NIH issues advisory for Congo Hemorrhagic fever

ISLAMABAD: The National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued advisories on Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) before Eid al -Adha.

The National Institutes of Health issued an emergency advisory on the Congo virus, the advisory was sent to the Federal, the provincial health departments, the private and public hospitals.

The spokesman said that the Congo virus advisory prepared by NIH experts, the purpose of the directive is to provide Congo’s information to citizens, medical experts and warn the citizens, related agencies about the Congo.

The directive states that the first case of the virus in Pakistan was reported in 1976, most of the Congo cases in the country are reported from Balochistan.

Balochistan is a sensitive area of Congo on cross -border transport, 61 Congo virus cases were reported in the country during 2024.
