No More Bollywood Songs! Pakistan Bans Indian Songs on All FM Radios Nationwide

The Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) has officially banned Indian songs in Pakistan on all FM radio stations under its jurisdiction. This decision comes in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam attack on tourists, sparking strong reactions across Pakistan.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has termed the ban on Indian content a “principled and patriotic step.” In an official statement, the ministry stated that this gesture reflects national unity during a sensitive period. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar praised the PBA for acting independently, calling the decision a reflection of Pakistan’s sovereignty and dignity.

“This initiative reaffirms the nation’s resolve,” said Tarar in a letter addressed to PBA Secretary General Shakeel Masud. He emphasized that the Pakistani media plays a crucial role in promoting national solidarity and appreciated their support during this critical time.

India Blocks Pakistani Celebrities and YouTube Channels

Tensions have escalated further after India blocked Instagram accounts of top Pakistani celebrities, including Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Ali Zafar, and Olympian Arshad Nadeem. Additionally, India banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including leading news outlets like Dawn News, Geo News, ARY News, Bol News, and more.

YouTube channels of famous Pakistani journalists such as Irshad Bhatti, Asma Shirazi, Umar Cheema, and Muneeb Farooq were also restricted in India.

With Indian songs banned in Pakistan, FM stations are now turning to local music content to keep audiences engaged. The move is expected to boost Pakistani artists and patriotic content, while also sending a strong message of cultural and media independence.
