Pakistan, China collaborate on AI education and training opportunities
Pakistan and China are exploring the possibility of launching training programs in artificial intelligence and data sciences for Pakistani students at top Chinese institutions.
This initiative was discussed during a meeting between Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad.
Shaza Fatima reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its partnership with China to accelerate digital transformation and create new economic opportunities in the ICT sector.
Discussions focused on developing AI and data science training programs at leading Chinese institutions to enhance technological cooperation and strengthen Pakistan’s digital capabilities. The Chinese side reiterated its support for Pakistan’s digital transformation initiatives, and Shaza Fatima emphasized the importance of leveraging China’s expertise in digital governance for Pakistan’s development.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where the monitoring of essential commodity prices during Ramadan was reviewed.
This was the first formal cabinet meeting following the recent expansion, and the prime minister welcomed the new members, expressing his best wishes. Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal briefed the cabinet on the price monitoring measures, and PM Shehbaz praised the effectiveness of the Price Control Committee in Islamabad.
Additionally, the cabinet approved the Directorate of Religious Education as an affiliated department under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. On the recommendation of the Ministry of IT and Telecom, the cabinet also approved the signing of an MoU between Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team and China’s National Computer Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center to enhance cybersecurity cooperation.
