Shawwal moon sighting: Ruet-e-Hilal committee to hold meeting today for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Sunday, 29th Ramadan 1446 AH, at 6:00 PM to look for the Shawwal moon.
The meeting, led by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, will take place on the rooftop of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. At the same time, zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will hold their meetings in provincial capitals.
The decision on the moon sighting will confirm the date for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations in Pakistan. If the moon is sighted, Eid will be on Monday, March 31, 2025, as Ramadan will complete 29 days.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have already announced Eid-ul-Fitr, as the Shawwal moon was sighted there on March 29, 2025. The Saudi royal court confirmed that Sunday marks the first day of Shawwal.
In Saudi Arabia, massive Eid congregations will be held at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid-e-Nabawi in Madina. Reports suggest that over a million people will participate in Eid prayers at these two sacred places.
