  • Salman Khan has resisted OTT films since his 2021 film “Radhe”.
  • He believes theaters are designed to provide a unique experience for audiences.
  • Khan believes that theatrical releases benefit everyone financially, from ushers to farmers.

As he promotes his highly anticipated film “Sikandar”, set for an Eid release, Salman Khan revealed why he hasn’t done any OTT films since “Radhe”. In a recent conversation, he also shared his thoughts on Neeraj Pandey’s “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter”, starring Jeet and Prosenjit Chatterjee.

Popular paparazzo Varinder Chawla’s official Instagram handle reported that Salman Khan shared his views on movies releasing on OTT and in theaters. He emphasized that filmmakers create big-screen experiences for a reason and highlighted how theatrical releases benefit everyone financially.

“Speaking of OTT, my film Radhe was an OTT release, but after that, I didn’t do anything because I feel theaters are made to experience films a certain way. Theaters are made so that audiences go and watch films,” he said.

The “Sikandar” star explained that theatrical releases benefit everyone, from ushers and canteen workers to farmers growing potatoes for food vendors. He emphasized that cinema offers a unique experience. Recently, he watched clips of “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter” on OTT and had also seen the earlier installment.

The actor noted that films like “Chhaava”, “Jawaan”, “Pushpa”, and “Animal” performed well at the box office. He emphasized that word of mouth plays a crucial role and dismissed the notion that audiences are avoiding theaters.

He acknowledged the high ticket prices and noted that films begin streaming on OTT months after their theatrical release. However, he firmly believes that good films still attract audiences to theaters.

Salman Khan’s 2021 film “Radhe” featured Disha Patani, Randeep Hooda, Jackie Shroff, and others. Zee 5 released the action thriller, while “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter” is currently streaming on Netflix.

“Sikandar”, the highly anticipated film starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, also features Prateik Babbar, Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, and Anjini Dhawan in key roles. Sajid Nadiadwala has produced the film, which will hit the big screens on Eid, March 30, 2025.
