Women’s empowerment key to recovery, says Bilawal Bhutto
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited the remote village of Jhundo Khoso as part of his continued efforts to reach out to communities affected by the floods.
During his visit, he checked on houses built under the Sindh Peoples Housing initiative, a program designed to give permanent homes to families who lost theirs in the floods.
In a meaningful gesture, he handed out property documents to several people, officially giving them ownership of their new homes.
Officials updated him on the progress, saying that out of 209 homes damaged in the floods, more than 135 have already been rebuilt.
Speaking to the villagers, Bhutto Zardari highlighted the role of women in the recovery process. He said the ownership of these homes is being given to women to help secure a better future for the next generation.
