A year after his split from Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck has focused on starting fresh. Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, on their second wedding anniversary. She listed April 26 as their separation date, and they finalized the divorce in January. Since then, Affleck has quietly rebuilt his life.

A source told Us Weekly that “he’s focused on himself and work, and he seems very happy.” In the April issue of GQ, Affleck clarified that no scandal led to the breakup and explained that it was simply a case of two people trying to figure out their lives.

He also addressed the speculation surrounding Jennifer Lopez’s 2024 documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, and clarified that it didn’t cause any major fracture in their relationship. He explained that viewers couldn’t watch the documentary and fully grasp the issues they had faced.

Since his divorce from Lopez, Ben Affleck has grown closer to his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. The two co-parent their three children—Violet, 19, Fin, 16, and Samuel, 13. They spent Thanksgiving together volunteering in L.A. and celebrated Samuel’s birthday with a paintball outing in March.

“Their relationship has deepened since the divorce, but there is nothing romantic between them,” said a source. “There’s just a real trust and familiarity… which makes it easier to coparent. They are family for life.”

According to insiders, Jennifer Garner, who has been dating businessman John Miller since 2018, has occasionally spent time with Ben Affleck without the kids.

Living in Brentwood near Jennifer Garner’s home, Ben Affleck has focused on his kids and career. “They are everything to him,” a source said. Affleck told GQ that he has shifted toward producing so he can stay more present at home. He shared that he makes sure to be home by 3:45 when his kids get off the bus, adding that it means more to him than it would to anyone else.

Ben Affleck promoted The Accountant 2 at CinemaCon in April ahead of its April 25 release. He’s also collaborating with Matt Damon on the Netflix crime thriller RIP, which is set to release this fall.

According to a source, Ben Affleck is casually dating but isn’t actively seeking anything serious right now. The source described his approach as low-key and part of easing back into single life. He briefly used the dating app Raya, but it reportedly doesn’t suit him anymore.

Friends often try to set Ben Affleck up, and one source said it has become a running joke that everyone knows someone for him to date. However, Affleck reportedly feels relieved to have some independence and feels very comfortable with where he is in life.
