LHC hints to seal Chingchi rickshaw manufacturing factories


LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) hinted to seal Chingchi rickshaw manufacturing factories during the hearing on petitions against the smog.

During the hearing on the petitions against the smog, the Lahore High Court expressed his annoyance  for the traffic jam on the Mall Road, saying that protests and negotiations do not mean that the entire city should be closed.

Chief Traffic Officer Azhar Waheed told the court that the request for a ban on Chingchi rickshaw was sent to the Home Department, on which Justice Shahid Karim said that the license Chingchi rickshaws manufacturing  are being stopped, the manufacturers would ensure the implementation of transport laws in 3 months.

CTO Azhar Waheed said that Chingchi rickshaws are causing the deaths of the people, to which Justice Shahid Karim said that the Punjab government’s lawyer should take notice of the rickshaw makers for 3 months, it is very important to ban illegal Chingchi rickshaws. He remarked that it is important to reach the Chief Minister next week.

The CTO Lahore told the court that 10 people were killed in the accidents of Chingchi Rickshaw, on which Justice Shahid Karim said it was very important that Chingchi rickshaws be controlled.

The Lahore High Court said that Chingchi rickshaws must be stopped, otherwise they will spread all over the city. The Chingchi rickshaw companies should be closed, reporting sending a summary to the Chief Minister at the next hearing.

During the hearing, the CTO also submitted a report regarding the proceedings against the beggars, saying that legislation on the beggars was needed, on which Justice Shahid Karim remarked that the court has been saying for a long time that permanent legislation is very important.

The court adjourned further hearing of the case till April 25.
